  • Another one...

This one shall be about work. I work at good Target as a cashier/other things person. It's a job. I mean I am MOST thankful for it! God has provided me with the hours and some money to pay bills! PRAISE THE LORD!!!! I am excited that it's too far away from university for me to work there though. :0) (I am bad.)

I was SO surprised to see how quickly I got back into the rythmn of things! I stepped back into the register area and, "boop, boop, boop, How are you doing today? boop, boop, boop Did you find everything easily? boop, boop, boop Would you like a Target visa? No? Okay. boop, boop, boop The total is $89.91. Thank you. Have a good day!Bye!"
Note the "boop" stands for an item being rung up on the total.

Wow! What a life! Where are you all working? Are you enjoying yourselves?

It's been interesting to see which people recognize me and which people don't. It'll be good to get a paycheck! And it's really good to have something to do. Work must be done! It also amazes me how the people are always streaming in. It amazes me that if no one was willing to work at a store like Target all those guests (customers) would have problems. We are all doing different things to help each other. Wow!

Well, I am being summoned to dinner. I don't think that I will be eating, but they want my presence at the table anyways. Thank you for reading...if you have. I think I would enjoy writing next time about what the talk radio shows are saying. :0) I love listening to those talk radio shows, but they make me so mad because they often talk...sometimes, rubbish.

    All right, BYE!

  • A new post from me

Hello to those 6 lovely people who have read some of my notes. Or maybe more people have and I just don't know it. I have some things to write about now! I suppose, what, it has been about a month since I last looked and/or wrote ANYTHING on here. I wonder if you guys will see this and/or read it and/or know? I wonder if other people see these things that I have written? Hmmm... What deep thoughts to ponder!!

All right, my first topic of conversation is about university. I will be going to the Master's College in Santa Clarita, California on the 18th of August. WHooo! Excitement is rushing in and through the air, I know it. Now, to leave home again is (actually) a welcomed thought. I NEVER thought that I would EVER say this, but it really is all right to live away from my family. (gasp! and eek gads!) I know, it's a shocking thought.

ANYWAYS...university...I never fully understood how EXPENSIVE the blooming institution is! Good grief! What do these administrators think we are?! Rich college students?! HAHA! Does anyone EVER refer to college students as being "rich"? I don't think so. College students are not rich before they enter university and they are not rich while they are attending university and they are NEVER rich after attending university... I must pause for breath here. I figure I will be paying off loans and fees until I am...about..dead. :0) HOPEFULLY and perhaps, I will meet some rich guy. :0) hehe No, I am just kidding! Have no fear!! I'll just work 2 day jobs and a night job for the rest of my life. :0) No, now I am-again- being rather ridiculous. Sorry, I will try and control myself, I am just so overwhelmed. ::sigh::

Perhaps I will try and apply for scholarships. Actually, I have been working on some essays for some scholarships. There is actually a scholarship being offered for $1500 if you write a children's book (150-250 typewritten pages). That would be nice. I have never written that many pages before though. Short stories, yes, I have written those...but WHEW! That book would be A LOT of writing. I don't think that I can double-space the writing either. :0| Ahh well, we shall see what comes about.

I did qualify for some grants though...that is nice. Hopefully I'll be able to get a job down there too. That would be WONDERFUL! But, I don't have a car. That could be a problem, but hey, I figure if I look at it from the angle that without a car I don't have to pay for petrol or insurance or car payments...YES!! I am saving a lot of money right there! :0)

So, I have been writing/talking a lot about money. Sorry. I hope that my complaining and panicing doesn't trouble many of you. I am just typing my thoughts out now. I like doing that. It can be a rather dangerous thing, but I like to do it just the same.

For those of you who have been to uni, are going to uni, or will be going to uni, do you have any suggestions for me or any tales to tell about your experiences there? DO TELL!

  • My journey down to London...

    So here's the story:

I got the coach from Manchester to London. This was to be a 4 hour 30 minute drive down. I was expecting my own seat, time to read, think, and plan out my day and a half in London. The weather outside was HOT...well, for England. It was probably about 70/75 (Farenheit).
So, I got on the bus, looked around and saw that I would not be in my own seat, but would have to share with a (GASP!) stranger.
After realizing this, I quickly glanced around the bus, looking for a smiling face. A hairy man with his top shirt buttons unbuttoned smiled...he was too nice. I continued to walk deeper into the bowels of the bus. With each step my choices were running out. I had to make my seat decision and soon. In the very last seat, next to the toilet, sat a man. He smile and waved. I had no where else to go. I was at the back of the bus. If I turned around now he would know I was running away from him. Bravely, I gathered up my bag and took the seat almost next to him. (It was a 3 seater seat, he sat next to the window, then there was an open seat, then I sat in the seat next to the toilet. That is what you get for 4 quid my friends! Value for your money on National Express!)
So anyways, I sat down, me and the man (who I found was named Robert) began to talk. He was not clean shaven, but looked very nice. As we started talking I learned that his parents were both dying of different cancers and other illnesses and that he was living in Burnley. His parents had immigrated from Jamaica and he had grown up in London. He is now 45 years old. He is living in Burnley because he owed drug dealers in London thousands of pounds and they wanted to kill him since he couldn't pay. I also found out that he needs injections to help him with his schizophrenia and depression. He said that he belonged to the Church of England, but also liked to know what his horoscope was saying for the day. He liked to talk. For awhile I was glad that he could keep up the conversation...no awkward silences.

Some minutes later we were joined by another gentleman of the name of Omu. He is a lawyer from Nigeria taking his exams in order to be a lawyer/solicitor (right?) in England. He told me that his name means "my God has come." He was the last child and only boy after 3 girls. His dad was very happy to have a son. :0) He really liked to talk as well. He knew facts about all sorts of subjects. He was meeting his girlfriend in London and then they were going to Paris. He laughed so loud and so wonderfully, it was great! These kids in front of us kept coming to the toilet, he had a huge bag and had to move it every time they wanted the door to be opened. HAHA! We were in the middle of laughing at something when his girlfriend called, checking to see where the coach was, she heard him laughing and wanted to know why he would be doing such a thing on the coach. He told her that he was leaving her and running off with the girl he had just met who is from the US and could give him his green card. At this his girlfriend commanded him to hand me the phone. He did. His girlfriend then started telling me that I should be careful because he likes children. I laughed and handed the phone back. When he heard what she said, he said, don't worry I am not Michael Jackson.

Ahh! The people you meet! Who are some interesting characters you have met on your journeys around?

As I was standing in line to check in at Heathrow Airport I stood behind a man who was going to Vancouver. He was dressed in a sort of "zoot suit" from the 90's. He wore a black hat, pink tie, white shirt, black jacket with pink lines, black trousers, pink socks, and black shoes. He told me that he had a mentally disturbed wife who was accusing him of stealing and was very emotionally damaging. I wondered if he wasn't the one who was mentally troubled. For awhile he kept going on about the problems with his wife. I eventually stopped talking to/with him. (The line was an hour long.)

The man behind me then started a conversation with me. I found that he used to be a professor at Cambridge and that he was back from Australia to visit his former students who are now professors at Cambridge. WHOA! His accent was lovely. A posh Southern English accent. He told me that he had practically traveled all around the world. He then said that he had yet to be to South America, Eastern Europe, or Africa. The question that then arose in my mind was, what part of the world HAD he traveled to? :0) Another amazing little bit was that he spent 300 pounds on the 5 star hotel he stayed in in London for the night! He was telling me that the quality for the price was getting a bit better in London, but still not as good as what you could get in other places. I thought, "You don't want to know how much I paid for my hostel last night!" (32 pounds for two nights...a shared girls dorm. YES!)

So, there are my stories. I hope not too boring. PLEASE, do tell me your stories! I would like to hear about your adventures at home and abroad. Tell me, tell the rest of the people who'll read (hopefully).YES! This blog DOES have the potential of being fun! :0) As long as we/I know how to work it. :0)

Have an aboslutely FABULOUS day! Today I will be having tea and then watching the Phantom of the Opera with my Grandma. haha (So many movies I have squahed in to the last 4 days. How is that possible? I suppose my theory is be as much a vegetable this week and then hop back to work refreshed and replenished next week. heh heh)

    BYE!

  • So...

Here I go...on the journey through the world of the blog. Thank you for participating in this adventure with me. Be aware that you could lose life and limb in this process.
So, what do we discuss? Hmmm...
Well, let's discuss what's been happening in everyone's life!
What was the biggest change that you encoutered at home?
What do you find (wherever you are, whether or not you are at home)has changed most, your surroundings, you, or nothing?

Now to find out how to tag those guys. Would I want to tag those guys? I have no idea. Tagging is so that you can click on it and talk about that subject directly, right? Are blogs similar to message boards? I thought this would be extremely easy, I was wrong.

What's a good movie you all have seen? What's some good tunes out there?

My goodness! My sisters have GROWN! They are so tall! Yesterday I was teaching them all the important things I learned at Capernwray...how to swing dance and how to knit. :0) hehehe
So far the movies I have watched have been Anne of Green Gables (YAY! :0) and The Great Muppet Caper. I was trying to spot the places they went in London that I had visited as well. :0)

What good books are out there? I would like to read a book that makes one think. Actually, a book that I have been wanting to read for AGES is Roots. OH! My jounrey down to London (by coach) was so funny! Maybe, can I tag it and then have that subject in another blog message? I would like to do that, but I have no idea how. Maybe I'll just post another message and then the company in the coach will be my next subject...hopefully it'll work.

Let's try it! Here I go...
Oh yeah, this was posted by Alicia...if you couldn't tell. :0)
